Lowari Top receives two feet of snow

Chitral received five inches of snow while Kalash Valley got two and a half feet of snow

A fresh spell of snowfall has started in Chitral and surrounding districts during which Lowari Top received two feet of snow.

Chitral proper received five inches of snow while Kalash Valley has got two and a half feet of snow.

This has further increased the element of chill in the air and due to several feet of snow authorities closed the Lowari Road for all kinds of vehicular traffic till the removal of snow and clearance of roads.

Passengers have been asked to wait till the clearance of roads. This is the second spell of snow in Chitral this week as a result the city proper has been under a thick blanket of snow, making it surreal but causing difficulties to the general public too.

Authorities told The Express Tribune that all the roads leading to Kalash valley have been closed by the snow and local residents are unable to travel from one place to another.

“Zereen village in Kalash has received two feet and Sheikhanda village approximately two feet of snow as a result people have been confined to their homes,” he added.
