SHC moved against rise in street crimes
The Sindh High Court has sought an explanation over the admissibility of a social organisation's petition regarding the increase in street crimes in the metropolis.
A hearing was held in front of a two-member bench led by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto.
The petitioner stated that snatching of women's handbags and mobile phones has alarmingly increased in Karachi, killing over resistance has become a routine, lack of communication between the institutions benefits the accused. Under the prevailing situation mobile snatching cases should also be given to Counter Terrorism Department [CTD] and Special Investigation Unit [SIU].
Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto inquired how does this situation impact the applicant? The court sought clarification regarding the admissibility of the petition. Chief secretary, home secretary, police, FIA, CPLC, and telecommunication companies have been made parties in the petition.
The court adjourned the hearing for a week.
