Pakistani origin US Democratic Party leader Tahir Javed, called on outgoing Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Sunday and congratulated him over an agreement to declare Punjab and California ‘sister states’.

Chaudhry Pervazi Elahi said on the occasion that the agreement would promote trade, economic and business relations between Punjab and California.
Relations between both regions in in the education, health, information technology, environment and culture sectors would also be promoted, he added.
The outgoing chief minister lauded the Pakistanis residing in the United States for actively helping the flood-affected people in the country.
He said the Punjab government had utilised the donated amount for the rehabilitation and settlement of the affected people in a transparent manner.
