KARACHI:

Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon has notified the official prices of wheat flour according to which ex-mill price has been fixed at Rs95 per kg, while retail price has been fixed at Rs98 per kg. The retail price of wheat flour from small flour mills (chakki) has been fixed at Rs105 per kg.

Compared to the last couple of months, the flour price has been dropping since the wheat supply in the market has improved, but the price is still beyond the reach of majority of the population. Chakki atta is being sold at Rs125 per kg in different areas of the city, while fine atta is being sold at a price of Rs115 to Rs120 per kg.

In the open market, the price of wheat per kg has also decreased but chakki owners say that clean wheat is still selling at a higher rate.
