‘Islamabad Health Champion’ awareness campaign launched

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration will organise a month-long competition titled ‘Islamabad Health Champion’ to create awareness and to teach a healthy lifestyle to school-going children and teachers.

Deputy Commissioner ICT Irfan Nawaz Memon said that the purpose behind this initiative was to keep children strong and healthy, by making people aware to select nutritious food for children from an early age. He said that health experts and nutrition teams would visit schools to train children to adopt core principles of healthy living, including the intake of nutritious food and incorporating a balanced diet in their daily routine. Memon further said that students between 5-16 years of age would compete in various fitness competitions to become ‘Islamabad Health Champion’.

All competitions would be held in accordance with the criteria set by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) and Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA)", he added. On the other hand, spokesperson for ICT Administration Abdullah Tabbassum said that this month-long competition would commence on February 5 and will end on March 5, 2023 whereas schools and colleges can register till January 31.
