DERA GHAZI KHAN:

It has been snowing intermittently for the last two days in Fort Munro, a hilly tourist spot in South Punjab called Kamri.

The intensity of cold has increased in the region and electricity supply is also suspended. Due to snowfall, arrival of families from South Punjab continues. The scenery of Koh-e-Sulaiman became more beautiful with the snowfall.

The arrival of a large number of tourists led to a traffic jam at Rakhi Gaj. Tourists have demanded provision of basic facilities. According to details, Fort Munro is a tourist destination located at an altitude of 6,770 feet in beautiful mountain range of South Punjab, Koh-e-Sulaiman, which is also known as South Punjab Kamri. Snow continues to fall in Fort Monroe for a second day. Due to this snowfall, the beautiful Koh-e-Sulaiman range has been covered with snow, which has made the scenery of mountain range even more beautiful and attractive.

Snowfall is also continuing intermittently in Khar, Gadani and Yekbai near Fort Munro. To enjoy the snowfall and the weather, tourists from different parts of South Punjab have turned to Fort Munro instead of going to the remote area of Murree. Tourists continue to visit the area in droves. Due to the large number of tourists in the area, long queues of vehicles were formed from Rakhi Gaj to Fort Munro. Border Military Police personnel were also deployed on the main road to control traffic due to traffic jams.

Tourists who came to Fort Munro said that views of Koh-e-Sulaiman are nothing short of heaven. Tourists are enjoying weather immensely. The area also lacks food and drink facilities along with other basic amenities. Some tribes of the area migrate to Khar or Dera Ghazi Khan in this season of severe winter due to lack of food. Therefore, most of the hotels and super stores are closed in the area. For the past several years, the area has been receiving snowfall every year. There is a dire need for government initiatives to make the beautiful sight of snowfall more interesting. It will not only boost tourism but also provide business opportunities to local people. There is a need to construct public toilets and waiting areas for tourists on their way to Fort Munro.
