Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman had a telephonic conversation. The chief minister assured the JI Ameer of addressing all issues and reservation of Jamaat.
After the completion of the second phase of municipal elections in Karachi, the chief minister began his efforts to stop the ongoing cold war between the People's Party and Jamaat-e-Islami.
The chief minister said that Jamaat-e-Islami should contact the authorities on the issues they have with the Election Commission. However, he said, he is ready to look into all JI's grievances regarding the local government election results at the Sindh government level.
Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for InformationSharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Pakistan People's Party has won majority seats in local body elections in Karachi. The party, as per the constitution, has the right to nominate its mayor. Still the PPP is ready to hold talks with the Jamaat-e-Islami if they come forward and contact us, he said.
Talking to the media at the Sindh Archives Complex he said, it is not surprising that Pakistan People Party.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami had lost in the 2018 general elections and in 2013 and 2008 as well. He said, JI spent huge amount of money on its election campaign on social, print and electronic media. Where this money came from?
He said that PTI has resigned from National Assembly, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "I ask them to resign from the Sindh Assembly as well," he said.
Separately, Sindh Labour and Human Resources Minister, Saeed Ghani, has said that a split mandate has emerged in the recdent local government elections in Karachi as the people of the city voted in favour of both the PPP and Jamaat-e-Islami to end politics based on terrorism, hatred, and bad manners.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Ghani said that the PPP was willing to hold a serious dialogue with JI on the issue of a split mandate.
"We consider Jamaat-e-Islami a serious and wise political party as both the PPP and Jamaat faced terrorism, lawlessness, and politics of hatred as we don't want that situation in the city worsen again," he said.
He said, JI has emerged successful in areas where earlier it had no elected MPA.
