ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad police have launched the `Knock the Door’ campaign to register tenants and domestic servants amid rising cases of thefts and robberies in the federal capital.

The police source said that the campaign would focus on the registration of both tenants and domestic workers.

In this regard, the police officials would go door-to-door and complete the registration process. This campaign aims to ensure security checks to protect the lives and the property of the citizens of Islamabad. The source revealed that Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Islamabad had already registered data of 244 tenants and house employees within the jurisdiction of Aabpara police station.

The registration of tenants and domestic workers would help keep a close eye on mischievous elements and suspects in the city. Moreover, it will help avoid any untoward incident and maintain law and order, he added.

Police teams led by a senior upper subordinate of each police station of Islamabad would also be a part of this drive and will be collecting relevant details about tenants with the help of a questionnaire.

He elaborated that teams would be comprised of both lady cops and male cops while personnel of the CTD and police commandos would also remain ready in the police stations to tackle any untoward situation during this campaign.

The police teams would also provide a questionnaire to the house owners and they will have to submit their answers along a copy of their national identity card, a copy of the rent agreement with the tenant, and other documents required for the registration.

He also urged the house owners to verify the backgrounds of people before employing them as domestic workers in their houses. He said that people disguise themselves as ordinary citizens and cause damage by engaging in serious incidents like theft and robberies.
