55 face charges after district bar association's celebratory firing

The police have registered a case against 55 people, including several lawyers, over their alleged involvement in celebratory firing after the election of the district bar association’s president.

It is the sixth case registered by the police over firing during elections of the lawyers’ association.

The incident, which was captured on video and shared on social media, occurred near Panj Pulian Chowk.

The Sidhupura police post in-charge, Muhammad Sarfraz, stated in his complaint that he was present on a nearby road when he became aware of a feast being held by supporters of the newly elected district bar association president, Rana Shahid Munir. Before the arrival of the police, the suspects, including Rana Sulaiman, Rana Bilal, Rana Imran Manj and the owner of a hall, Umair, were allegedly firing into the air, he stated.

The police charged the suspects under various legal provisions and launched a search for them.
