Shah Rukh Khan watches 'Pathaan' with family after Indian minister's demand

The politicisation of Pathaan after Indian minister asked Khan to watch his recent offering with his daughter, Suhana

The politicisation of Shah Rukh Khan's comeback film, Pathaan, continues after an Indian minister previously asked King Khan to watch his recent offering with his daughter, Suhana Khan. The Siddarth Anand directorial, which also stars Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles, is all set for a January 25 release.

On Monday, the Khan family held a special screening of the action thriller where the megastar and his three kids were spotted making their way to watch the much-awaited film. Pathaan row has been making headlines for a while now after several right-wingers accused the film and sizzling number, Besharam Rang to be a planned take on hurting Hindu sentiments.

Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam earlier challenged Khan regarding the Pathaan movie and said, “Shah Rukh should watch this film with his daughter and tell. I challenge you to make a similar film on the Prophet and run it. In the name of freedom of expression, there will be bloodshed in the whole country and in the world. Entire Mumbai was burnt though I am not in favor of that.”

According to Hindustan Times, the minister further added, “I tell Shah Rukh Khan that your daughter has become 23-24 years old, sit and watch the film with her. Then tell me that I am watching this film with my daughter. Yellow clothes are the pride symbol of the nation, why are the yellow clothes associated with the Hindu religion shameless? Green should be respected, yellow insulted, it is not right. If that’s all, watch such a film with your daughter. Then we agree that there is nothing wrong with it."

Anand has also announced that Pathaan is “designed to be the biggest action spectacle from the Hindi film industry,” as per The Indian Express.
