ECP serves notice to Sindh govt for code violation

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notice to the Sindh information secretary for running an advertisement campaign from the public treasury during the local government elections in the province.

The election commission took notice of the provincial government's advertisement campaign in the media and served a notice for violation of its Code of Conduct.

The notice stated that no political party can run an advertisement campaign from the public treasury.

On election day, the Sindh government ran advertisements in the media for development projects, and government money was spent on the advertisement campaign, it added

The election commission directed the information secretary to appear at the office of the joint provincial election commissioner Sindh on Monday and explain the violation of the Code of Conduct.

It has also been said that in case of non-appearance, the matter will be sent for further action.
