Budding artists showcase singing mettle

Receive standing ovations from enthralled audiences

RAWALPINDI:

Burgeoning artists from across the province mesmerised audiences at the Punjab Arts Council on Sunday with folk songs and comedy show.

The musical show was organised to showcase the talent of young singers.

The singer mesmerised the audeinces with Punjabi folk songs and received standing ovations.

Punjab Arts Council Director Waqar Ahmad, who was also invited as the chief guest on the occasion, said Punjab has a rich cultural identity and we love our culture. The official remarked that history forgets nations that give up on their identity.

“Songs have their unique place in various cultures which depict their traditions. The folk songs of Punjab portray the simplicity, sincerity and love of the people of Punjab,” he said.

He said as a nation we are lucky that our culture has global recognition and the folk songs of Punjab have their unique place in the culture of the whole country.

He said that the artists of Punjab have preserved their folk songs, their melodies and unique expressions in a rich way and today's young generation is also benefiting from this.

Assistant director Muhammad Suleman said that artists are considered to be messengers of peace around the world.

In the atmosphere of depression, the arrangement of such events is breathe of fresh air.

“Pakistani artists are talented and hardworking and Pakistani singers in classical music have performed worldwide,” he remarked.

Tahir Nayar, Gulab, Asma Lata, Saqleen Musa Khelvi, Amira Mir, Sharafat Baloch, Sagar Khan, Jahangir Khan were among the artist who captivated the audience.

In the comedy show, Hamid Babar, Shahid Bhola and Saeed Anwar also entertained the participants.
