Cold spell to continue until Jan 17

The severity of the cold persisted throughout the city on Saturday. A low temperature of 10.5 degrees Celsius was noted at Pahlwan Goth, the city's official meteorological station. At PAF Base Faisal, other government weather stations recorded a temperature of 11 degrees centigrade. MET Complex recorded 9.5 degrees Celsius, PAF Base Masroor 8 degrees and Jinnah Terminal 6.7 degrees Celsius.

For the third day in a row, the city experienced extreme cold on Saturday. The visibility was reduced to 4 kilometres in the morning due to fog. The Meteorological Department has released data from various weather stations in the city.

According to the Early Warning Centre of the Meteorological Department forecast, the cold wave is expected to continue across the province of Sind until January 17. Mercury may be measured at 5 to 7 degrees in Karachi, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin, Sajawal, and Thatta.

In Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Jamshwar, Dadu, and Tharparkar, temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees may be recorded. The Met office predicts that the next three days will continue to be cold and dry. While Monday is predicted to witness temperature between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius, Tuesday is expected to see between 8 and 9. The Balochistan winds from the northeast may impact Karachi for three days.
