KARACHI:

The District and Sessions Judge East has reserved his decision on the bail application of Dania Shah, third wife of the late politician and televangelist Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain, who was arrested on the charges of making and uploading to social media "obscene" video clips of her former husband.

Hussain's daughter, who is the plaintiff in the case, appeared in the court. Defence lawyer Liaquat Gabol stated that the statement of Yasir Shami, the main witness in the case, has not been recorded, while the FIA has not yet submitted the final challan of the case. He argued that his client has been implicated in a false case and sent to jail.

The plaintiff's counsel, Zia Awan, stated that they have enough evidence for the accused's conviction. He pleaded before the court that the accused should not be granted bail. The court reserved its decision after both sides completed their arguments. The court will pronounce a decision on the bail application on January 18.

Dania Shah is in jail on judicial remand. A case was registered against her on the complaint of Dr. Hussain's daughter. Dania was arrested by the Cybercrime Wing of the FIA from Lodhran district of Punjab in December, last year.

She is accused of filming an "obscene" video of her late husband and then posting it on social media. The video featured him in a state of complete undress in his home, allegedly after the consumption of an illegal substance. This video was leaked a couple of days after news broke of the dissolution of his third marriage.
