ECP stays firm on LG polls schedule: JI
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has appealed Karachiites to vote to elect honest and capable leadership for the city and asked the Sindh government and state institutions to ensure free and fair local government elections today.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday he said despite illegal and unconstitutional pressure to further delay the local government elections the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stayed firm on holding the polls as per schedule.
He urged the citizens to vote for the sake of Karachi and set aside their political affiliations in order to secure the future of the city of lights. He said that each and every citizen has an obligation to cast vote to elect only those who really want to work for Karachi. He said women and youth also have to play their due role for a positive and durable political change in Karachi.
He hoped that today's date will change the course of history of Karachi.
