Digital school opens in Orangi Town

IT Minister announces free digital training for girls with opportunity to earn simultaneously

KARACHI:

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Amin-ul- Haq on Thursday inaugurated a digital school in the Orangi Town area of West district in collaboration with Sindh Education Commission and Telecom Foundation.

Speaking on this occasion, the minister said that today it is a matter of great joy that girls of Orangi Town, once termed the largest slum f South Asia, will get free of cost digital training.

"Girls completing the CS Coding course will be able to earn $80 to $150 working online," he said.

The minister said that there was no mobile phone manufacturing company in Pakistan. Today 29 companies are working in Pakistan helping people earn from affordable handsets.

Telecom Foundation Region Head Azam Khan said that there is no fee in this school set up in Orangi Town, the largest slum in Asia. Telecom Foundation President Mohiuddin said the organisation will launch more such campaigns in Orangi.
