‘Research work aligned with national priorities’
Vice Chancellor Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has said that research activities in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have been aligned with national aspirations and priorities.
Research activities in the Faculty of Agriculture at Islamia University of Bahawalpur had been lauded at national and international level having an important role in the country’s agricultural economy.
Research on new cotton varieties compatible with global climate change, intercropping of maize and soybean and setting up of an agro-economic zone through artificial rainfall in Cholistan were some of the most important projects of the university.
Dr Athar Mahboob added that intercropping of maize and soybean crops project had been included in the CPEC projects due to its economic significance in edible oil production and poultry feed.
He said that agricultural graduates were in high demand at national and international level and agricultural graduates from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur were honing their skills at national and international level.
He said that through research collaboration with Chinese universities, intercropping techniques were being tried on wheat, sugarcane, cotton and other crops.
Chinese universities were offering scholarships to the IUB students which would boost the local talent to avail international educational opportunities.
