KURRAM:

A possible suicide bomber has been identified by the authorities who fear that the terrorists may use the teenager to carry out a suicide attack targeting some important personality, gathering or installation.

It has been learnt through reliable sources in the interior ministry that the suspected suicide bomber has been identified as Najeeb Bangash alias Toofan – 14 to 15 years old teenager – who is a son of Latif Khan, a resident of Chapari village, Khoidad Khel, Bagzai, P/O Alizai, Lower Kurram.

Bangash is a close associate of Saqib-ud-Din Afridi, the suicide bomber who detonated in Islamabad on December 23, they added.

According to insiders, Afridi had made his last contact via WhatsApp with his family from the cell phone of Bangash when both were somewhere in Kurram.

Bangash was a student of class seven at local seminary in Lower Kurram when he went missing from his home in March, 2022 – the same time when Saqib-ud-Din Afridi went missing. It is suspected that Bangash might have obtained terrorist training along with Afridi.

All concerned stakeholders were cautioned and sensitised to ensure heightened security measures to avoid any untoward incident.
