SHC dismisses MQM-P plea against delimitations

The Sindh High Court on Tuesday dismissed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) appeals challenging the delimitation in Karachi.
A two-member bench headed by SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh heard two petitions of MQM-P regarding objections over delimitation of constituencies.
MQM-P counsel Nishat Warsi Advocate argued that this issue is mainly about the demarcation of UCs and towns. The Sindh government made unfair demarcations for political gain. It is unethical and wrong to have UCIs and Towns in the West District.
Constituencies in Orangi, Mominabad, Baldia, North Nazimabad, and Shah Faisal Colony have been carved in an unjustified manner. "Additionally, the appellate authority did not hear our viewpoint. This practice is unjust," the MQM-P counsel said.
The Sindh Chief Justice remarked that regarding your petition to challenge the notice, the court has given its decision on it. The Supreme Court has also upheld the decision of the Sindh High Court.
The court rejected both petitions of MQM. It was argued in the petitions that the elections won't be fair if the constituencies and delimitations are incorrect. Provincial Election Commission, Secretary Local Government and others were made parties in the petitions filed by MQM.
Encroachment
The Sindh High Court (SHC) has given the District East Administration one month to end the illegal possession of property and submit a report on a plea against “china-cutting” in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Scheme 36.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, took up the petition on Tuesday. The judge was furious at Karachi Development Authority (KDA) officials for their failure to demolish illegal constructions in Scheme 36, Street 6.
