LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi asserted on Monday that the opposition was daydreaming about clinching power in the province but it lacked the support of the number of lawmakers required for the purpose.

The CM huddled up with Punjab Assembly Speaker Muhammad Sibtain Khan and Ministers Muhammad Basharat Raja and Mian Mahmoodur Rashid to discuss the political situation and the number game in the assembly.

The participants resolved to vigorously counter every ‘unconstitutional tactic’ of the opposition. The chief minister said the PML-N had faced defeat in Punjab earlier and “it will not find a place to hide in the future”. He accused the opposition party of resorting to rumour-mongering. He said the ruling coalition was united. “No one should be under any illusion. We are with Imran Khan.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Elahi announced that there was ample stock of wheat to meet the needs of the people.
