Precautions advised to prevent spread of new variant of Covid-19

Health dept says instructions should be given to maintain social distance and mandatory mask wearing in public places

KARACHI:

The Sindh Health Department, in the wake of the new wave of Covid-19 virus that hit the city, had issued instructions to the NCOC for precautionary measures even before the cases were reported. The medical experts are continuously instructing the citizens to follow the SOPs.

The Health Department has instructed that there are fears of death due to the spread of the new variant of Corona at the global level. All passengers arriving on flights from China should be tested for Covid-19 at airports. In case of positive result, the passenger should be quarantined.

Pfizer vaccine should be arranged for the booster dose so that the Pfizer dose is given to those who were vaccinated six months ago especially elderly people aged 65 years and above.

Separate centres should be set up for positive cases and those with symptoms but negative test reports.

A chest X-ray should be done for these people to check for Pneumonia. Covid-19 vaccination should be made mandatory for international and routine travel.

Instructions should be given to maintain social distance and it should be made mandatory to wear masks in public places.
