CTP issues over Rs 5.7m fine tickets in a year
Rawalpindi City Traffic Police issued over 5.7 million fine tickets to violators of traffic rules throughout the previous year and deposited more than Rs220 million in the treasury.
According to a report issued by the department, some 43,354 challans were issued against those driving sans licenses.
The 2022 challan report further stated that 5,78196 challans were issued over serious traffic rules violations to bring down the accident ratio.
Meanwhile, around 34,998 challans were issued to violators for driving without registration and number plates and some 16,607 for tinted glasses.
The report also revealed that around 32,523 riders were fined for not using a helmet and 26,936 were slapped with fines for one-way violations.
Traffic police personnel impounded 17,201 motorcycles and 8,312 vehicles due to incomplete documents, the report stated.
Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer Taimoor Khan said the purpose of the traffic police is not to issue challan but to ensure the safety of the lives and property of the citizens.
He said the focus of traffic police is on road safety and traffic education.
