Yet another police constable was killed when terrorists stormed a police post in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhunkhwa (K-P) on Saturday night.
One of the attackers was arrested in an injured condition after the assault who later succumbed to his injuries.
Police told The Express Tribune miscreants stormed Shehbaz Khel police post in Lakki Marwat in the darkness of night and used heavy and medium machine guns.
Police, however, fought back and repulsed the attack. One police constable was killed in the exchange of fire with the terrorists.
“Constable Tahseenullah of Rapid Response Force (RRF), belt number 3491, embraced martyrdom,” said a police official, adding that the attack was repulsed and the terrorists were forced to flee.
“A large contingent of police was sent as reinforcement to the area which conducted a search operation and found one of the attackers in injured condition. He had been left behind be- cause of his injuries,” he said, adding that the injured man was taken into custody and shifted to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.
The attacker was identified as Awais and both the bodies were sent for autopsy.
It may be mentioned here that a police constable was targeted in the Umarzai area of Charsadda on Saturday. On Thursday night, five policemen were injured when terrorists stormed a police post in Dera Ismail Khan.
The year 2022 was the worst year for law and order in K-P as police remained the primary target of terrorists. Deadly attacks were carried out on civilians as well as peace committee members in several parts of the province.
The sudden appearance of the TTP terrorists in Swat caused widespread panic and triggered large scale protests by the locals who alleged that terrorists had returned to the area under the cover of peace talks with the government in which locals had no stakeholders.
