KARACHI:

An accountability court has once again granted the Gulshan-e-Dozan housing scheme builders an opportunity to meet with the affectees and settle the matter. The opportunity was given by Accountability Court Judge Suresh Kumar while hearing the Gulshane-Dozan corruption reference.

“The builders should meet the victims to resolve their issue. We want an end to this situation so that the victims do not have to appear in the court again and again,” the judge remarked. “Give up your greed and find a solution.” One of the victims, a woman, said that she has been unable to receive the lease of her property for the past 10 years.

The court ordered the builder to give the plot possession to the affected women. “The woman has two plots and we were ready to give her one plot,” the builder said. The court inquired why would you give one plot instead of two? “We had limited number of plots so we allotted it to another person,” the accused builder said.

The judge remarked, “Why don’t you give them money if you don’t have plots?” he ordered him to resolve the matter of the affected woman before the next hearing. The NAB Prosecutor stated that the accused has failed to pay back the affected allotees who have not been provided leases.

The accused’s lawyer stated that his client was ready to grant possession of plots of the allotees. He added that his client was also willing to provide alternative land or money to those with files. The court adjourned the hearing till January 18, giving time to the builders to meet the victims and resolve the issue.
