Several arrested for ‘issuing fake passports’
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in an operation arrested several people, including a former official of the Passport Office of Gujrat, on the charges of issuing fake passports by allegedly taking bribe.
Cases were registered against them. The accused included three NADRA officials as well.
According to the FIA officials, Khadija Bhatti, a resident of Nankana Sahib, had filed an application in which it was stated that her ex-husband, Abid Maqsood, a resident of Sheikhupura, and his second wife got a fake Form-B of her three children, two-year-old Muhammad Azaan, five-year-old Muhammad Huzaifa and seven-year-old Ahmed Umar, prepared from the NADRA office under the name of Nargis alias Noor, and a fake passport from the Passport Office. She said that with the help of those documents they fled abroad with the children.
After the FIA proved the issuance of fake passports and other documents in the inquiry, a case under various serious provisions was registered against Abid Maqsood, his wife, Nargis Noor, nephews Asadullah Aqeel, Abdullah Aqeel and Maqsood Ali, a friend, Qaiser Guraiya, former assistant director of the Passport Office of Gujrat, Saeed Abbas, a data entry operator Zaheer Sial and a clerk Shakur Haider.
The FIA arrested the former assistant director, Saeed Abbas, Qaiser Guraya, Zaheer Sial and Abdul Shakoor and transferred them to jail.
