Watch: Nostalgic Sajjad Ali croons his fan-favourite ‘Ab Ke Hum Bichare’
Like most of the millennials not fond of the new age of rap and hip-hop, the legendary singer Sajjad Ali also woke up yearning for the good old days of music. The new Bollywood era is all about remixing old classics and a certain new song reminded the Tum Naraz Ho singer of a song he released 26 years ago.
A sudden treat to his fans, Ali took to his Twitter on Monday night and threw it back to 1996 when he first released the romantic ballad Ab Ke Hum Bichare. “I was listening to a new movie’s song on Youtube and it reminded me of my own song that I released 26 years ago,” he began the video and started singing the song.
Although Ali didn’t take any names, users tagged Indian musician and composer Vishal Dadlani and called him out for stealing songs and not giving credit where it was due.
Several users retweeted Ali’s video and thanked him for bringing the classic Mehdi Hasan ghazal back to life.
However, a user felt that his 26-year-old song was “as bad” as the new one and that singers should leave classic ghazals alone altogether.
