KARACHI:

The Christian community is all set to observe their religious festival of Christmas across the country today.

A series of mid-night masses was held in all the churches in the city on Saturday night. All the churches in the city, including St. Patrick's and Holy Trinity, are hosting Christmas prayers.

Electric lights and Christmas trees were used to elegantly decorate the churches for the festival.

The Christian religious leaders provided the context of Jesus' teachings at the masses on the Christmas Eve while carols were also performed especially for this occasion. On the occasion, special prayers were offered for peace, security, prosperity and development in the country. These prayer gatherings will go on until Sunday evening.

The special gatherings on account of the festival are taking place in the districts of Keamari, Lyari, Ranchhod Line, Saddar, Mauripur, Paharganj, FC Area, Essa Nagri, Korangi, Musharraf Colony, and other areas.

Christians use electric lanterns, Christmas trees, and stars to decorate their houses. Santa Claus presents gifts to the kids, while the community cuts Christmas cakes during various celebrations. Along with wishing one other a Merry Christmas, cakes and other presents are given to each other while feasts are organised in homes on the occasion with special meals. The Christian excitement is at the peak across the country.
