Fans disappointed with ‘cringy’ Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’
Fans have been long awaiting Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback with Pathaan but the two songs released from the film so far have only led to disappointments. While Besharam Rang garnered criticism for Deepika Padukone’s ‘objectionable’ clothes and ‘vulgar’ choreography, the second song Jhoome Jo Pathaan raked in negative comments for its ‘cringe content’.
Sung by Arijit Singh, the party number was unveiled on Thursday and fans instantly took to Twitter to voice how ‘outdated’ they found it to be. While most hated the song, there weren't many takers for shots of Khan acting cool with his shirt billowing in the wind and his abs on full display – and that says something.
“Everything about Jhoome Jo Pathaan is embarrassingly bad and outdated – the music, the look, everything,” wrote a user on the bird app.
Another compared the Main Hoon Na actor to Tom Cruise. “While Tom Cruise is doing impossible stunts at 60, Shahrukh Khan is making cringe like Jhoome Jo Pathaan at 57. I really thought he'd bring something fresh,” read a tweet.
Forget moves and beat, a majority of people weren’t impressed with Khan’s wardrobe in the first place. “Why is Shah Rukh Khan dressed like Captain Jack Sparrow,” wrote a user. Another one asked, “What spy looks like this?”
A user argued whether Bollywood will ever come out of stereotypical movie-making culture with the same kind of nostalgic shots and nothing original. “It looks so cringe to see a 57-year-old man giving such annoying dance moves with even more terrible costumes and style,” wrote a tweep.
Others also expressed their disappointment in how Khan isn’t keeping up with his legacy. “What’s more upsetting is the fact that SRK went from Suraj Hua Maddham to that, whatever travesty it is.”
Another felt that he looked ‘nervous’.
Some users didn’t like Singh’s voice on Khan either. “Pritam ko hi bula lo bhai. Banda copy karta hai lekin kam se kam gaane to achhe bana deta tha (Call Pritam. Sure he copies stuff but at least he makes good music),” read a tweet. Another fan just shared how they didn’t have many expectations with the film in the first place but it is a shame that the songs aren’t up to the mark.
