K-P deputy speaker unhurt after firing in Peshawar

Search operation launched in the area after the incident

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly Deputy Speaker Mahmood Jan remained unhurt after shots were fired reportedly targeting him in Peshawar's Shagai area on Friday.

The attack occurred as the K-P deputy speaker was attending an event in the area.

Police swarmed the area as soon as the incident was reported. A search operation was also launched in the area.

"The motive for the attack has not yet been ascertained," said SSP Operations Peshawar Police Kashif Abbasi.

The police official also revealed that attempts were being made to arrest the suspects.

Jan was nominated K-P Deputy Speaker in August 2018 after being elected a second time from his home constituency PK-66 Peshawar-I.
