Imposter remanded to judicial custody

The Judicial Magistrate East has sent an alleged imposter to jail on judicial remand for defrauding citizens by posing as an officer of the Chief Minister’s House.

The case against the accused was heard on Thursday at the Karachi City Court. The police produced the arrested suspect Samiullah in the court. The court sent the suspect to jail on remand and sought a progress report from the investigating officer on the next hearing. According to the case FIR, the accused had taken money from the citizens in the name of investment while claiming himself as the Deputy Director of the Chief Minister’s House.

When it was found that the accused is a fraud and had no business, he was asked to return the money, but he did not. On being pushed back, the accused agreed to give Rs5 million in the form of a cheque. However, a cheque of Rs1.6 million, issued by the accused, bounced.
