Citizens say city has become safe haven for robbers

KARACHI:

Two more youth of Karachi fell victim to the murdering marauders running amok in the economic hub of Pakistan.

Abdul Qayyum, 19, was shot dead by armed suspects early on Wednesday morning ourside his home in Korangi No3 within the limits of Korangi police station.

A water supplier by profession, Abdul Qayum was youngest among three siblings. According to area residents, the deceased youth had just stepped outside to head to work when two unidentified armed suspects on a motorbike approached him.

They ordered Abdul Qayyum to hand them over his phone at gunpoint but seeing that he used a keypad mobile, the armed suspects gave it back to him.

The suspects were about to go when a child opened the door and seeing them raised a hue and cry. The Panicked robbers shot Abdul Qayum and fled. He was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where a doctor pronounced him dead.

According to the Abdul Qayyum's family members and locals of the area, the Korangi district has become a hot-bed of street crime. Robbers kill and injure citizens daily, but no action is being taken by police.

Meanwhile, Faizan Qureshi, 34, passed away on Wednesday morning while receiving treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) after being injured in a robbery incident on Monday in the Korangi No. 1 within the limits of the Korangi police station.

Additional IG Karachi demoted and suspended SHO Korangi on the death of two citizens in two days when they resisted during the robbery.
