Call to extend tenure of six dispensaries
A three-year extension until 2026 has been declared necessary in the tenure of the six dispensaries, which have been working exceptionally under the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the last two years, for the provision of healthcare facilities in the garrison city.
Sources said a recommendation will be sent to the Gates Foundation for an extension for another three years. All the expenses of these dispensaries including salaries of staff, are paid by the Gates Foundation.
These dispensaries were established under the Gates Foundation from 2021 to 2023 in different densely populated slum areas of the city including Fuji Colony, Awan Colony, and Hazara Colony.
The dispensaries established in the cantonment areas including Kacha Stop, People's Colony and Dhok Syedan, a large number of mothers and children are being provided with treatment, screening, polio vaccination and other facilities.
According to sources, experts have declared it necessary to extend the period of these six dispensaries, which provide exemplary treatment facilities to needy people, for another three years till 2026 so that the provision of treatment facilities to the needy citizens can be maintained.
