RMC’s audit completed after 15 years

Illegal constructions, rule violations and delayed developmental work detected in inspection

RAWALPINDI:

The monitoring and inspection to review the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation’s assets, records, number of officers and officials, their performance, construction work in the field, and complete general scrutiny of the department’s assets, inquiries and field formations have been completed by the chief minister’s inspection team after 15 years.

The forum, established as a regulatory authority in the most important process to bring checks and balances, up-to-mark governance in the institution, reduce unnecessary expenditure and prevent leakage of resources, started its work on December 12 and completed it on December 15.

According to the preliminary information, illegal commercial constructions, constructions contrary to the approved building plans and without building plans, violation of office rules and regulations, violations of rules and regulations in awarded contracts for construction works, substandard construction work, delayed development work and other violations were identified by the monitoring and inspection team.

The inspection and monitoring report will now be sent to the Director General of Monitoring and Inspection, Punjab who will seek replies to the points raised in the report.
