Seems like the Besharam Rang row isn't ending anytime soon. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's song from the upcoming film Pathaan has caused quite a ruckus on social media and among Indian politicians.
After an Indian minister called for a ban on the film after being irked by Deepika's clothes in the song, Bollywood artists come together to defend Shah Rukh and Deepika.
Swara Bhaskar, who has never shied away from calling spade a spade, shared a screenshot of a news article that stated the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh may ban the release of a new film for showing 'Muslim man groping a woman wearing saffron'.
She posted the screengrab on Twitter and wrote, "Miliye humare desh ke sattadhari netaon se. Abhinetriyon ke kapde dekhne se fursat milti, to kya pata kuch kar bhi lete (Meet our country's leaders in power. They may have done some work, had they had some time left after ogling at actor's dresses)."

She also took a dig at the media sensationalising the trolling. A Twitter user wrote, "Criminals joining ministries is no longer news. Economists joining a Yatra is." Swara quote-tweeted it and wrote, "Other news is what colour costumes actresses are wearing in item numbers!"

Onir decided to call out a Twitter user when they shared screenshots of the song and tried to troll it. The user had also written: "What kind of a husband allows or tolerates public molestation of his wife for a few bucks? Just asking!"

The filmmaker was quick to respond, "Yucks, sick mentality. The use of words like ‘allows’, and 'tolerate' shows that he belongs to that tribe of men who think a husband owns the woman. And only a vulgar mindset could make a montage like this. Retired and now nothing better to do than zoom in pictures and spread hate."
Actor Prakash Raj also expressed support for Deepika and criticised the burning of effigies of Shah Rukh as a protest against the song. "Besharam bigots. So it’s okay when Saffron clad men garland rapists, give hate speech, broker MLAs, and a saffron-clad Swamiji rapes minors, But not a dress in a film? Just asking."
Bollywood Hungama earlier reported that several protests were staged against the film as well. The outlet reported that a group named Veer Shivaji group planned protests on the streets, at a road intersection, in Indore. As per reports, the protestors claimed that Besharam Rang offended the sentiments of the Hindu community. And therefore, they have been demanding a ban on the release of Pathaan. The film will release on January 25, 2023.
