RAWALPINDI:

Under the Ehsaas Ration Programme, a project has been launched to provide flour, lentils, ghee and cooking oil at 40% discounted rates to 80 million families in Punjab.

Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Shoaib Ali has approved the establishment of 900 grocery stores in the district in consultation with the Karyana Merchant Association.

The Ehsaas Ration Stores will be set up in 210 union councils in the urban and rural areas of the Rawalpindi district. The establishment of four to five Ehsaas Ration Stores has been approved for each union council while seven to eight such stores will be set up in the densely populated union councils.

The Ehsaas Ration Stores will get 8% profit on selling the lentils, ghee, flour and cooking oil at 40% discounted rates. The owners of these stores will be required to open their accounts at local banks.

The relief amount along with the profit will be transferred daily to their account whereas a monthly payment of Rs2,000 is being sent to the mobile numbers provided by each of the 80 million registered families in the province. In the first phase, a two-month subsidy amount is being sent to all deserving families.
