Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Faisal Farid has instructed te officials concerned to immediately remove obstacles in disbursing financial aid to the flood victims and ensure timely availability of funds for the purpose.

Presiding over a meeting, he said the Punjab government would distribute more than Rs12 billion among about 55,000 people affected by this year’s flood in the province.

At least 23,339 flood victims have so far received the financial aid.

The PDMA director general said the distribution of financial aid should be completed this month and all the resources should be used for the rehabilitation of the affected people.

The meeting was held to remove obstacles in the provision of relief funds to the flood victims by the Punjab government.

The deputy commissioners of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur attended the meeting virtually.

Faisal Farid said the PDMA along with other institutions had ensured a transparent survey of the damage in a timely manner.

He said that for the first time in Punjab, financial assistance had been provided to the flood-affected families through digital means.

There would be no corruption in the digital financial aid delivery.

He said all the data of the flood victims receiving relief funds was being saved, including videos, and now the flood victims registered in the survey could receive financial assistance from any branch of the Bank of Punjab across the country.

The bank has also set up booths in the floodaffected towns on the instructions of the Punjab government, where adequate security arrangements have been made.
