Administer pushes KMC engineers to repair 28 main roads of city
Administrator Karachi Dr Syed Saifur Rahman has urged the authorities to immediately fill up potholes and install street lights on 28 major roads of Karachi and ensure that they remain motorable under all conditions.
Addressing a meeting with the engineering department and antiencroachment officers in his office on Wednesday, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administration Saifur Rahman directed antiencroachment officers to immediately remove all encroachment on the footpaths of Abdullah Haroon Road, Empress Market, MA Jinnah Road, Rashid Minhas Road and other roads of the city and provide convenience to the pedestrians.
Rehman said that as per Supreme Court orders regarding Aladin Park, the space cannot be used for commercial or other activities.
Therefore, the park would be managed by KMC and would be reconstructed as Jinnah Park, where citizens will be provided better facilities than before. He said that KMC is taking steps in this regard and trying to improvise all other parks and recreational places available in the city. Administrator Karachi Saifur Rehman also presiding over a meeting regarding the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit Project in his office on Wednesday.
He urged the traffic authorities to ensure that alternative routes and diversions be included in the traffic plans where the BRT project was being constructed. He said that University Road is a very important corridor where many recreational places and business centers are located and a large number of citizens commute on a daily basis. The administrator has said that places should be allocated to provide drinking water to the birds in all the seven districts of Karachi.
