Minor girl raped, killed and dumped in abandoned house

Victim had gone missing Monday evening; local resident who had joined the family in the search spotted the body

KARACHI:

In a harrowing incident, a six-year-old girl was raped, killed and then her body was dumped in a derelict abandoned house in an Afghan refugees camp near Gulshan-e-Maymar, according to police. This is the third incident of sexual violence involving young girls in the metropolitan city in recent days.

Amin Qureshi, SHO Gulshan-e-Maymar police station, identified the victim as Hasina, daughter of Musa. She went missing Monday evening and the family and neighbours could not find any trace after searching for her everywhere in the area.

A local resident, Pehalwan Khan came out of his house due to load-shedding in their locality. It was pitch-dark and the family and neighbours were searching for Hasina with the help of torches. He also joined the search and found the girl's body dumped inside a room of an abandoned house, hardly a few yards away from Musa's house.

Khan immediately reported it to Madadgar 15. "A part of the roof and walls of the house, where he found the girl's body, were broken down due to the recent rains," he told police. Since the house is abandoned, the pervert who molested the little girl might have taken her there to avoid any suspicion.

Khan further told police that Hasina was the fourth among six children of Musa who has been wheelchair-bound since breaking his leg six months ago.

Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal proceedings. Police also found the clothes of the girl a few yards away from the body.

According to them, it appears to be a case of rape and murder. The Crime Scene Unit was also called in to collect evidence for further investigation.
