Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has taken notice of the plight of a school in the rugged mountains of Ornach in Khuzdar district of Balochistan, where children go bare-footed after the issue recently surfaced on international media.

On Bizenjo’s directions, overnight, rooms were constructed and a hut-like school was turned into a well-furnished educational institution located in the most remote area of Balochistan.

“We are committed to solving the plight of schools across Balochistan,” CM Bizenjo said.

The government was determined to promote education across the province, which had been lagging behind other provinces in terms of key social indicators.

The Balochistan Education Foundation included this school in its list of schools that run on grants. The school was established on the basis of self-help in Killi Akiro Kabari, a village in Khuzdar district.

The founder of the school, Muhammad Farooq, was also given a job in the Balochistan Education Foundation in recognition of his valuable services to the development of education in his area.

Farooq, a local person from the area, established the school with the help of a non-governmental organisation.

CM Bizenjo directed Balochistan Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz Aqeeli to take the school under the government’s patronage.

The chief minister also directed the education department to include the school expansion project in the upcoming Public Sector Development Programme.

Bizenjo said, “The civil society working in the education sector will be encouraged and patronised in every possible way so that other people can also contribute for the growth of education.”
