Abbottabad jail gets library, computer lab

Official appreciates welfare efforts of prison administration and orders them to continue their positive efforts

ABBOTTABAD:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Prisons Saadat Hassan Saturday inaugurated a library and computer lab at the Abbottabad jail for inmates.

According to a statement, the IG while inaugurating the facilities said with such welfare initiatives, not only the prisoners will be able to spend their time in useful activities, but also the positive role of prison authorities will be highlighted.

With such facilities, he said, the jail will turn into a place of learning.

The official appreciated the welfare efforts of the prison administration and ordered them to continue their positive efforts.

The statement also stated that the initiative is part of the efforts made for the rehabilitation of the inmates in order to make them useful members of society.

Jail superintendent Muhammad Hamid, deputy superintendent Syed Zain-ul-Arifin Shah, assistant superintendent Malak Aman were present on the occasion.

The superintendent of the prison said that a tailoring course was offered for the prisoners from March to June 2022 with the support of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTEC). He said 29 inmates took up the course and 23 of them successfully completed it.
