Big cities to get higher wheat quota

No gap should arise in the provision of wheat to the people, says Punjab CM

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that the provincial government has saved Rs55 billion in a month by adopting an effective strategy in the wheat sector.

Presiding over the second meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee for Wheat, he said an additional Rs2 billion were being saved by imposing financial discipline.

He said wheat quota for the big cities, including Lahore and Rawalpindi, would be increased.

The CM outlined that the Punjab government was strictly adhering to its policy to make the province self- sufficient in wheat production.

He called for spreading awareness among the farmers about the use of seeds yielding more wheat production.

No gap should arise in the provision of wheat to the people, he said.
