LODHRAN:

Dunyapur city police have booked a man and his son over electrocuting his pregnant wife to death.

The police registered the case on the complaint of the victim's brother and started legal proceedings.

Naseem Akhtar, a resident of Shadman Colony Ward No. 4, had died after being electrocuted, allegedly by her husband and stepson.

She had married Muhammad Shahid of Dunyapur on November 6 last year. Shahid was a widower and had two children from his first marriage, one of whom was a student of FSc.

The deceased was seven months pregnant and fights frequently broke out in the house.

In the complaint, the victim’s brother Hassan Raza claimed that Shahid had told him over the phone that Naseem Akhtar had passed away.

When he arrived at her home, he found marks of burns and torture of Naseem's body, after which he immediately went to the police station.

The police shifted the body to the Dunyapur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for a postmortem examination.

According to the area DSP, the suspect Shahid was taken into custody, while the police were conducting raids to arrest his son, Danish. Further action would be taken after the forensic report would be received, the official said.
