The special JIT formed to investigate the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif on the direction of the Supreme Court has decided to record the statements of his mother and wife.
The first meeting of the special JIT in the journalist Arshad murder case was held at the office of the DIG headquarters in Islamabad.
According to the police officials, it has been decided in the meeting that the JIT will make its TORs and the statement of the deceased Arshad Sharif's mother and widow will be recorded first in the investigation.
According to the police, all relevant persons will be contacted regarding the investigation while members of the JIT will also go to Kenya for which all travel and document preparation had been started.
The chief justice had directed formation of a special joint investigation committee to investigate the Arshad Sharif murder case and submit a report within two weeks.
A five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard Arshad Sharif's suo motu notice on December 7. The Ministry of Interior had submitted a fact-finding report.
The court while ordering the formation of a special JIT said that representatives of the ISI, police, IB and FIA should be included.
