Teen strangled by plumber at home

KARACHI:

A teenage girl was murdered on Thursday by a plumber who had come to her home to fix leaking pipe. Police have arrested the suspect.

Mubina Town police station SHO Inspector Ahmed Mujtaba sharing details said Zainab Naeem, 15, was alone at home in an apartment block, when Irfan Khokhar, a neighbourhood handyman, came to respond to a plumbing complaint by her parents.

Finding her alone, he tried to rape her, but when she raised hue and cry, Khokhar strangulated her and tried to flee. However, people from nearby flats alarmed by the commotion rushed out and overpowered Khokhar, Inspector Mujtaba said.

SHO further said Khokhar had been to the said apartment earlier and the victim knew him. However, the suspect finding Zainab alone assaulted her and then killed her to hide his crime. Police are investigating the incident further.
