Drug burning ceremonies take place in various cities
Large amounts of drugs were burnt in various cities as the country observed World Anti Narcotics day on Saturday.

The World Anti Narcotics day is being observed today to raise awareness amongst the masses about the seriousness of drug abuse, and to reiterate the commitment to fight the menace.
The anti narcotics force burnt large amounts of drugs in ceremonies in various cities to mark the world anti narcotics day.
The drugs set ablaze included heroin, morphine, cocaine and chemicals used to make these substances.
In Rawalpindi, 60 tonnes of drugs were burnt while in Lahore 1,000kg of hash and opium and more than 200kg of heroin were burnt. In Quetta 22 tonnes of drugs were burned.
IG FC attended the drug burning ceremony and said that it is a social responsibility to do all that is possible to stop drug smuggling.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said the government has assigned the highest priority to control narcotics and is committed to making Pakistan drug-free.
The prime minister announced the initiation of a 5-year Drug Control Master Plan.
The plan includes special allowances for ANF officials, establishing more addiction treatment centers and enhancing international cooperation on drug matters.
He added that Pakistan is a signatory to global conventions and protocols pertaining to the control of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
