Burn units to be set up in Balochistan DHQ hospitals

A training centre has been started in this sector to establish a burn ward with five to 10 beds capacity

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddoos Bizenjo has directed the establishment of burn units in all district headquarters (DHQ) across the province.

This will be an important step towards improving the treatment facilities in the public sector, a well-placed source at the Balochistan health department told The Express Tribune.

He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The provincial health department has established a 20-bed general ward, a five-bed intensive care unit (ICU) with modern facilities, a burn unit, and a training center for the treatment of burn patients at Civil Hospital Quetta for the first time.

While in the divisional headquarters and district headquarters of the province, a training centre has been started in this sector to establish a burn ward with five to 10 beds capacity.

A burn patient in the Civil Hospital after being examined in the dressing room of the casualty department of the burn unit will be provided with bandages and other supplies.

If the patient has to be admitted, then only specific patients will be admitted, in this regard, the Balochistan government will bear the daily treatment expenses of up to one lakh rupees.

After the patient enters the ward, he will be treated in the presence of trained young doctors and nurses, including various surgeries.

Trainees of all divisional headquarters hospitals and district headquarters hospitals of Balochistan will be trained in the burn training centre.

After training the staff of 40 DHQ hospitals people in these areas will have facilities near their homes for the treatment of burn patients.
