KARACHI:

The order of the court to block national identity card and stop the pension of former investigating officer Chaudhry Manzoor for not appearing to record his statement in Chakragoth case, produced result as the witness has agreed to record his statement through video link.

The witness Chaudhry Manzoor was issued several notices during the last nine months but he did not respond because of which the case was delayed.

The Special Anti-Terrorism Court heard the case and set December 15 as the date for recording the statement of the last witness in the case through video link.

The public prosecutor submitted a request to record the incomplete statement of the last witness through video link.

The lawyer had stated that the case has been delayed for nine months due to the non-completion of Chaudhry Manzoor's statement.

According to the police, Raees Mamma, Ejaz Qadri alias Gorani and Asif Iqbal are involved in the case.

Former in-charge of MQM's organisational committee is among five accused who have been declared as proclaimed offenders.

Accused Raees Mamma in 2011 attacked a police van in Chakragoth to maintain his terror in Korangi. In this attack three reserve police personnel were killed while 27 others including the police personnel were injured.

Remanded to judicial custody

The Anti-Terrorism Administrative Court has sent the suspects in connection with the murder of a Shaheen Force officer to jail on judicial remand.

The Clifton Police presented two suspects before the court. The brother of the fugitive accused, Khurram Nisar, and the driver are among the accused.

An application was also filed for the bail of accused Aamir and Aurangzeb. The counsel of the accused stated that the escape of the prime suspect was not because of these accused. They are not the facilitators, the lawyer said, adding that the police arrested the accused without concrete evidence.

The investigating officer stated that the initial inquiry of the accused had been completed.

After the arguments the court sent both the accused to jail on judicial remand.

The administrative court referred the case to the Central Jail's special court.
