Baba Fareed Shrine: Auqaaf officials, DPO questioned for closing door
a petition questioning the closure of 700-year old main gate at the shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Ganj Shakar.
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court Acting Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Wednesday issued notice to the auqaf administrator Punjab, the auqaf secretary and the Pakpattan DPO for September 16 on a petition questioning the closure of 700-year old main gate at the shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Ganj Shakar.
The petition has been filed by advocate Zaheerul Hassan Zahoor. He said that the gate had been shut down by the administration following a suicide attack in July 2010.
He said that the gate has been kept close ever since, causing inconvenience to the devotees who visit the shrine and financial loss to hundreds of vendors who had set up stalls around the gate. He requested that the court direct the authorities concerned to open the main gate for public.
