PTI seeks regular hearings on plea against prohibited funding verdict

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for an early and regular hearing against the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the prohibited funding case.

PTI, through Barrister Anwar Mansoor, submitted a miscellaneous application in the high court, wherein it stated that the case was scheduled for hearing on November 22, but was delisted.

It noted that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has started action on the basis of the commission’s report and is “harassing” PTI leaders and donors without authority.

Overseas Pakistanis are being prevented from funding PTI due to government pressure, it added.

The petitioner submitted that such tactics are a direct attack on democracy and that the fundamental rights of PTI and its members were being violated.

PTI requested that important questions raised in the petition should be decided for the protection of democracy.

It also requested that a larger bench should decide its application by hearing the case on a daily basis.
