LAHORE:

A Lahore High Court bench headed by Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti has sought the response of the counsel for the accused in the Model Town case over some questions raised during the hearing of petitions challenging the formation of the second joint investigation team (JIT).

Earlier, the counsel, Syed Farhad Ali Shah, implored the court that the second JIT could not be formed after the charges had been framed over a complaint. He argued that Bisma Amjad, whose mother had been killed in the Model Town firing, had approached the Supreme Court seeking impartial and fresh investigations.

The Supreme Court constituted a larger bench on whether fresh investigation could be carried out when a private complaint had already been filed.
